for a long timeOpen this letter
One morning on a sunrise walk, I felt that deep readiness to see this finished and released. The streets were empty, the sky turning from black to gold, and there was a quiet pull toward completion — the kind that comes when you've carried something with care and know it will be time to set it down soon.
And right into that moment came a steadier truth:
God does some of His deepest work in hidden places.
Before anything grows upward, it grows downward first.
Roots before branches.
Structure before visibility.
Even Jesus was formed in the wilderness before He was revealed in ministry. Hidden didn't mean behind — it meant prepared.
That reframed the whole month for me.
Not lost momentum.
Not failed plans.
Hidden formation.
Roots deepening.
Motives clarifying.
Strength building quietly.
Faithfulness showing up — even when nothing is visible yet.
If something in your life feels slower than you hoped — a dream, a calling, a next season — not out yet, not visible yet, not fully lived yet — it doesn't mean nothing is happening.
It may mean your roots are going down.
Because some things are too important to rush into the light.
Seeds look nothing like trees for a long time — because most of the early growth is underground.
So maybe January wasn't a runway after all. Maybe it was soil.
